                                                   _____________

* Youth Soccer Team
Thank you to Brian Mushimba from LaFarge for coaching
the teams this year! There are two squads: between 6 and 9
year olds and between 10 and 18 year olds.
Practice is held every Saturday at 10am at Collins Memorial
Church on Bolton Road.

* Summer Field Trips
Every summer, we organize educational and entertaining
field trips for community youth. The young people visit
places in Atlanta and Georgia. They learn about the history
and economic development of the state. We typically have
been 30-40 children participating, but there is an annual
increase in the number involved.

* Reading and English as second language
In partnership with the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System
and other community-based organizations, we have volunteers
who tutor and offer classes in reading and English as a second
language for our Latino population. As our community is
experiencing an increase in Latino residents, this program
offers a much-needed service for these new residents.

* Children’s Parties
Children's parties are held on major holidays, including
Easter, Halloween, and Christmas

                                              _____________

* Senior Fruit Baskets
Every Christmas, various fruit baskets are made for
neighborhood seniors who may not otherwise receive
anything for Christmas.

* Homecare for Seniors
We help seniors who are in need in our community.
We employ local residents to help them with such
tasks as light house cleaning when necessary and
bathing up to three times a week.

* Senior Exercise Program
We have an exercise program for all community seniors
in which we organize walks around the neighborhood
three times a week, with volunteers to help seniors in need.

                                                                       Other Programs
                                                                       ________________

* Temporary Assistance
To ensure that everyone in our community has basic needs,
we provide temporary assistance to needy families. We act
as a community network, to provide residents access to
government and community service organizations that
can help them in various ways.

* AtlantasUpperWestSide.com
This site is an attempt to compile the history of
            Atlanta’s Upper West Side,
and try to keep the real history of Atlanta from
being forgotten. It is also to help educate those
that are trying to shape the future of this historic area.
